Mischief managed!

So, today is Thursday!

Here is Isla enjoying an afternoon hob nob in her ball pit:

Charlie this evening after a long day of snuggling:

A very mischievous Isla right where she shouldn't be, foraging for very badly hidden 'daddy' crisps: How did she get in there? that is the question!!

Yesterday, Isla was also devising some mischief:

Jumping on Andrew's tummy was the most fun thing in the world:

On Tuesday morning, Isla managed to get inside her toy box but had difficulty getting out again:

We had sweetcorn fritters with salad and ham for lunch..... the ham went down well of course

We did some painting in the afternoon!

Slimbridge!

On Sunday, we went to Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Nature Reserve. It was rainy and even foggy at home but was warm and pleasant weather at Slimbridge! We all enjoyed the break from DIY.

After playing inside in the ball pit, we went outside to look at the birds. Isla signed 'birds' to Andrew to make sure he knew what theses creatures are! Isla loved watching the geese waddling around, and also watching Andrew feed them by hand.

We went into 'Wellyland' where there are bridges, slides, a roundabout and a stream for little ones to play on.

After a while in Wellyland, we went back to the important business of feeding the geese. They are mostly Greater White-fronted geese. They are very friendly but a bit bossy to each other with lots of hissing and honking going on amongst them! We fed them grain, which Isla liked scattering and throwing for the birds.

She wanted to feed all of them, even those far away!

The nicest geese to feed are the Nenes - they are Hawaiian geese and are the rarest species of goose in the world. They are very gentle when they feed from your hand and are a bit timid and scared of the white fronted geese.

Isla tried to catch a goose! Luckily she had her lead attached.

When we got home, Isla had turned into a pirate! (complete with peg leg). We watched some horse jumping (? cross country? something like that) on t.v. and Isla found it hilarious that the horses were jumping!! She copied them and jumped around the living room.

On Monday, we had a very busy day but only one photo to show for it. Here, Isla is holding the courgette that we picked from the garden and ate with sausage and pasta for dinner! We went to Tumble Tots this morning, where they have different obstacles and soft blocks for the toddlers to climb on. Isla learnt how to climb up a small ladder and jump on a little trampoline! She enjoyed it a lot and we will definitely go back. We also visited her friend Lily, and so Isla got to play with some different toys and chatter with her little friend. After her nap, and an inspection of the inevitable flooding that occurred during installation of the bathroom while we were out, we had a speedy supermarket trip in the scorching 21 degrees! Isla had her bath in the new bath that evening.

Playing at the park

Today we all went to the park!

Piggies oink oink

On Thursday morning, we toddled off to Toddler's Group for a couple of hours after saying goodbye to 'Ham' and 'Neen' as Isla calls them (a.k.a. Sam and Janine). We really enjoyed having them to stay! Isla played with the car box at toddler group, finding tractors and trains, and also had a look at some books. Later on, some of the older children managed to completely empty the book shelves and hide all the books under the slide.....there was a lot of tidying up at the end of the session! Isla met up with her little friend Lennox who she hadn't seen in ages and I'm sure they'll play together again soon. He also loves tractors.

After lunch, we went for a walk around the fields with the buggy and Isla dozed off. Here are some photos from our walk:

In the afternoon, we went for another walk but this time to visit the pig and her piglets. Isla was on my back in the carrier so it was tricky to get a good photo of her but here are some attempts!

She loved being on my back as she has a great view of everything. She liked watching the piglets having their milk and kept signing to tell me later on that the piglets had been having milk!

Friday morning, we had breakfast whilst waiting..... and waiting....... and waiting........ for the builders to finally turn up! Then we went off to rhyme time at the library where we met another Isla from the next town. Later on, Isla helped with the laundry and then played football with the builder's son in the garden while they finished off (nearly!). She enjoyed 'dum dums' (poppadoms) with her chicken biryani in the evening.
