Isla's first mini milk

It's the end of the week again! We've had a busy few days. On Wednesday, I had a midwife appointment which was all fine but very very hot in the waiting room. Isla went to feed the ducks at Corsham lake with Andrew. By all accounts, the ducks were starving and so a little vicious in their attempts to get bread. Our newly bought double buggy (thanks to Mr Ebay) was put to the test on the way to the lake. Isla did some paper mache on a balloon to make a mask and also a toilet roll telescope at home.

We went to toddler group this week. We opened up and made teas as we were the first ones there. Isla didn't really want to go there, but we went anyway and by the time we had to leave to go home, she was really enjoying it and didn't want to leave! She enjoyed driving in the toy cars and pushing buggies around. She recognised some children there from Pre-school. We had a friend to stay for lunch with a two-year old and a 3 week old baby, which was really nice. We had scones, clotted cream and raspberry jam and so we had a delicious cream tea for dessert...!

Today it was really hot and sunny again! We went to Corsham library rhyme time. Isla liked the songs a lot, especially her all time favourite Baa baa black sheep, and also Riding on a big green tractor. Old MacDonald was good too, apparently he had a crocodile on his farm! We went on an adventure to find the park in Corsham (after purchasing some iced buns to keep us going) and found a good one with a slide and swings and a fun spinny thing. This afternoon we went for a walk to the local shop and bought ice creams. Isla had a chocolate mini milk which went all over her face and top and then she ate most of my cornetto too. Luckily we bumped into our friends who have a labrador on the way home and so Isla got lots of licks to clean up her top, much to her delight.

A fairy at the bottom of the garden

Today we found a little grape-eating fairy at the bottom of our garden:

We gave Isla a special fairy costume as a present for doing really well with her potty training this week. She had a nice morning with her daddy going to the park on the bike and going to the pet shop. At the park Isla can now go on all the big slides herself and went very fast on the zip-wire (with a little bit of help).

Tractors in the sunshine

Yesterday, Isla enjoyed making a pasta and glue picture:

It was all too much excitement for Pob:

Today we went to the garden centre where they had rabbits and lots of other animals to look at. Isla loved running around in the sunshine and the wind. She was also very excited by the toy tractors and would happily have spent the whole day there riding on them!

When we got home, we both had a sleep in the car! In need of some chocolate since our Easter eggs had all been gobbled up long ago, we made some more chocolate krispie cakes. We also made some oat and raisin cookies which were fun to roll into ball shapes. The mess from all this baking was immense. Rice krispies and oaty cookie dough everywhere! But worth it for some tasty snacks. Isla went for a run about in the sunny garden while I cleared up.

Dentist visit and a big pink octopus

Today we went to soft play in the morning. Isla liked going on the green slide best of all, into the ball pit and she managed to find lots of ways of going down the slide. Every time she got to the bottom, she said 'agin' meaning again, and so I helped her out of the ball pit and off she toddled to climb up and go down the slide many, many times!

There was a big pink octopus to climb up too, with a slidey side to slip down onto a friendly crab:

There was a dolphin to ride on too, which is a good skill to learn before visiting Spain next:

After having fun with the sea creatures, we went to visit the dentist. I had been talking to her a lot about what to expect, and Isla reminded me that she had watched Peppa Pig go to the dentist on the t.v. Peppa Pig's dentist is an elephant and Isla kept telling me that we'd go to the dentist and 'elephant come to check teeth'. I think she was much more excited to see her actual dentist than an elephant though! Isla was very good and helped her dentist, who is also her daddy, to examine my teeth. She pressed the button to make the dental chair go back, and she kept saying 'Isla help daddy check teeth' and wanted to stick a mirror in my mouth. She also pulled random things off the dentist table and passed them to her daddy. She didn't mind when the sucky things got switched on. When it was her turn, she sat in the chair and lay back, and opened her mouth for the dentist to have a good look. It was all very exciting, and she chose a Thomas the Tank Engine sticker at the end from Sam the nurse. Afterwards, we went to Pizza Express for a yummy pizza and Chocolate Fudge Cake for pudding. And then went and brushed our teeth of course......... ;)

Isla on the slides

Today we went to soft play. This is where toddlers can run about and climb on stuff. Isla loved the slides and went down them like a speed demon! Here are a couple of videos showing her doing this:
