Isla's new baby sister!

When I was 11 days overdue with Isla's sister, we had a spicy take-away meal to try and encourage things along, as well as eating some pineapple, raspberry leaf and taking lots of walks! Something must have worked (or it was the right time anyway) because I went into labour the following day with contractions starting at lunchtime, just after phoning the hospital to tell them we had decided to wait a day before being induced!

Enjoying our take away out in the garden:

Isla's new baby sister was born at home in our birthing pool at 00.49 on Sunday 28th. She was born in her membrane sac with the help of Joyce and Hayley, our amazing midwives. Andrew cut the cord, and then she fed very soon after birth and enjoyed lots of skin to skin contact with us both before being weighed on Isla's little play table in the sitting room. Isla's granny met the new baby minutes after she was born after hearing her first cry.

On Sunday morning, we introduced Isla to her new sister:

We decided to call her Evie Lily and have spent the last week getting to know her and enjoying having a lovely newborn to care for again. Whilst Evie has mainly been sleeping, feeding, pooping and figuring out how to make her eyes work together as well as having lots of cuddles from various relatives and family members, Isla has been doing lots of playing and enjoyed trips out for some running about.
