Santa drops in for a visit

At the weekend, we found a swallowtail butterfly that had just emerged from its chrysalis:

We had lunch out after a birthday party at the park. Isla received a really nice homemade noughts and crosses game with painted rocks as a party bag:

Isla and Evie both got some new shoes on Monday as they have grown out of their old ones. Afterwards, we made some rocky road at home using lots of chocolate, sultanas, marshmallows, more chocolate, a mars bar and some rice bubbles. It was from our Jo Wheatley book and tasted amazing:

We went up to the beach after Andrew's work and waited on the dunes. Santa jumped out of a plane and parachuted down to the waiting crowd!

We climbed up into Noosa National Park from the beach one day:

And also had a swim on the busy main beach right next to the hotels and shops:

Isla is on her summer holidays now and so we've had lots of time to do fun things while she winds down from a busy (and long!) school term. Evie and I took her to a new library, which had a Christmas craft session. They made lots of Christmas decorations and also boxes. Isla signed up to the summer reading challenge and was excited to receive a new pen. This library also has a train track right next to it and a very long freight train went past while we were there, much to all the children's delight. There was an art gallery beside the library that we had a look at. We saw huge paintings of waves, smaller watercolours of local landscapes and an artist working on a large acrylic painting of a tree frog. The art gallery has inspired us to do some painting soon.

We had a little visit to the beach, which was very windy:

Evie had two friends over for a playdate this week. She was very excited waiting for them to arrive and liked showing them her Christmas tree and toys.

The end of the week was quite hot so we had an early trip to the park by the river which was nice and cool.

Today we visited the Ginger Factory! We went on a boat themed ride and also on a train around the park. Evie wasn't sure about the boat ride, but loved the train. Isla thought it was all great! They both got to decorate (and eat) gingerbread men too:

We had lunch in Montville, an old town high up in the hills. There was a great shop that sold cuckoo clocks there.
