Cyclone and an early start to the school holidays

There has been a lot of stormy weather here over the last couple of weeks. Evie had a trip to the river to play at the park and look for shells after a night of heavy rain:

Later on, we had fun at Isla's school fair: eating some hot dogs, decorating cupcakes and picking up some second hand clothes.

There is a different beach near us where we found some rocks to climb and rock pools to investigate:

Making some sushi:

On Thursday, Isla's school was closed due to the ex-tropical cyclone Debbie coming our way and bringing huge amounts of rain and the risk of flash flooding with it.

Isla and Evie used Granny Ilene's sticker kit to decorate some Easter eggs and had lots of fun doing so:

We did some more craft over the next couple of days, as Isla's school was shut on Friday too.

After the storms, we ventured out to examine the damage:

A hill-climbing adventure where we were attacked by robber flies:

........ and found a procession of caterpillars:

We visited the zoo at the weekend and enjoyed following a special Easter holiday trail.

New baby cheetah Lawrence:

Possibly laying an egg for Easter?!?!

Isla and Evie (and me!) laughed our heads off at a special pirate show. We bumped into a couple of friends there too and received a couple of special pirate swords to attack Daddy with:

Today we travelled to the hinterland and had a walk to the rock pools in Kondalilla National Park. The views over the treetops were breathtaking and we spotted a pair of Australian King parrots on our walk.

Peeping down at Mapleton Falls:
