Loads and loads of caterpillars

We're on Easter holidays!!! Evie and Isla were excited to visit the Ginger Factory and ride on the train and the boat with our friend from playgroup.

The weekend was very windy so it was good weather for flying our kite:

On Monday, we met up with our friends and got the bus to the main beach. Getting the bus was very exciting as it went soooo fast. The beach was incredibly busy but the sea was lovely and Isla had fun doing rock climbing.

When we arrived home, Monty showed us some strange piles of caterpillars that had appeared by our patio door. There were about a hundred Processionary caterpillars which are very hairy and can cause painful itchiness. We were very careful with them and scooped them up out of the way.

A Splendid Tree Frog came to visit our garden again. It was very friendly and didn't mind having a cuddle. She was HUGE and liked perching on hands. She even jumped on Pob at one stage, and he didn't even move. After we'd had a good look at her, we put her back outside by the downpipe where we've seen and heard frogs before.

On Tuesday we visited the aquarium at Mooloolaba. There were lots of turtles. We patted a starfish, looked out for a leopard shark which lays eggs, and watched the seal lion and fur seal show.

The sea at Mooloolaba was nice and calm and we all had a swim and found some sea shells.

The next day, the caterpillars returned!!!

Some of the caterpillars turned around their procession after a good squirt with the hose. So we went off to the park.

And made some Easter nests.

A few hardy caterpillars returned this morning. They are very big and are looking for somewhere to pupate. They are pretty amazing as they follow each other around!

Today we had a brilliant time at the playgroup Easter party. There were lots of animals to pet, Easter biscuits to decorate, and an Easter egg hunt.

Evie and Isla have been making a zoo for some animals we found in the op shop.
